Golden Gate Bavarian Club

Bayerischer Heimat- und Trachtenverein

The mountain region of southern Bavaria holds deep and time-honoured traditions. They include regional dialects, costumes, dances and music. The members of the Golden Gate Bavarian Club, as a not-for-profit association, preserve these values and pass them on to future generations by performing for audiences in San Francisco, Oakland and the greater Bay Area.

Bockbierfest pt 2

1) Reminded by the “kids” that this was the first event to which they were attending without the “parents”. I guess that makes Chris the “cool uncle”
2) Erica’s first road trip to visit other Trachtlers.
3) Michael (the Gruber Family Band) played Amazing Grace through a beer bong fashioned out of a garden hose and plastic funnel.
4) met lots of new members from Alpentaenzer Schuhplattler, Sacramento.
5) All attending Golden Gate members had an obscene amount of fun!

Just a reminder that this Sunday is our INAUGURAL Quarterly Frühschoppen at Speisekammer Restaurant in Alameda.
Kinda like a Stammtisch on Sunday morning.  Socialize over a Weisswurst Frühstuck beginning at a time convenient to sleep in, attend church in the morning, or whatever else you have on your schedules for Sunday mornings!  You don’t need to dress in Tracht (but it’s fun if you do) or make a reservation.  It’s during the day so the kids are DEFINITELY invited to hang and socialize with the club.  All food/beverage is self-pay.

see you then!

Tonight is our annual Birthday Stammtisch. This week alone, we celebrate four birthdays and for the month of March, we have six members with March birthdays. Happy Birthday to Willi, Hiasi, Kathi, Christoph, Domenik, und Jenna!

We are adding new activities to our monthly calendar!  Music rehearsals, Movie Nights, and a quarterly Fruehschoppen are just a few of the new opportunities.  Please check our Calendar as new dates are frequently added.

After a much-needed break, the Golden Gate Bavarian Club will resume its activities for 2013.

WEEKLY DANCE REHEARSAL schedule begins WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 9 at the Alameda Elks Lodge at 6pm.  Our leaders have some new dances to teach this year and I’m pretty certain they will pull out the Maibaum to practice the Bandltanz in preparation for May! No special clothing is required for dancing- just comfortable shoes (preferably no rubber soles). Free, off-street parking.

STAMMTISCH follows Wednesdays at 8:15pm at Speisekammer Restaurant.  Our Stammtisch is a social hour for dinner/ drinks and playing music.  Just ask for the Golden Gate table.  No reservations are needed.

MUSICIANS/ SINGERS are always welcome! We have spaces for a wide variety of instruments.

CRAFTS GROUP meets monthly at a member’s home.

INTERESTED IN MEMBERSHIP? These meetings are a great, no pressure opportunity to meet other members and get your feet wet.  Please call 510-265-4532 with any questions.
